Ferris wheel accidents at Indian festivals

Separate Ferris wheel accidents occurred during religious festivals in India. In August 2026, a structure collapsed in the Indiranagar area of Ismailganj during the Sawan Mahotsav festival. A passenger basket detached from the 15-meter-high ride, injuring five people, including two teenagers in serious condition. In September 2026, a different incident was reported in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal district during the Tanha Pola festival. A 25-year-old woman sustained severe scalp and head injuries after her hair became caught in the rotating bearing of a Ferris wheel operating near the Puneshwar Mahadev temple.
