Yazid Alfata wins AHM Best Student 2026 competition

Yazid Alfata, a student from SMA Fatih Bilingual School in Aceh, has won the Gold award at the Astra Honda Motor (AHM) Best Student 2026 competition. His winning innovation, LeraWash, is a biodegradable detergent made from natural ingredients like lerak and waru leaves, packaged in seaweed-based bioplastic pods to reduce water pollution caused by synthetic detergents.

Other top honors in the competition, which featured 1,215 participants from across Indonesia, included Silver award recipient Fajrin Al Majid from SMAN Sumatera Selatan for Smart Pest Control—an AI and IoT-based precision agriculture system—and Bronze award recipient Muhammad Hatan Fahlady from SMAN 3 Yogyakarta for KALARESIK, an innovation that recycles tire and textile waste into economic products.

The competition, themed ‘Gen Z Berkarya, Indonesia Berdaya’, aimed to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through youth innovation. The final selection was judged by representatives from the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas), the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, and the PPM School of Management.
