Polish municipalities secure regional funding for schools, nurseries and asbestos clean‑up

Several Polish gminas have received grants from the Wojewódzki Fundusz Ochrony Środowiska i Gospodarki Wodnej (WFOŚiGW) to expand early‑education facilities and address environmental hazards. The Gmina Starzyna will spend 3.47 million zł on a new municipal kindergarten for 91 children, including equipment, staff training and extra activities. In Pogorzela, the municipality will contract a private operator to run the “Zaczarowany ogród” nursery for 20 toddlers, with annual subsidies ranging from 66 880 zł to 200 640 zł between 2026‑2029. Gmina Tczów secured 30 000 zł of WFOŚiGW funding (part of a 44 997 zł project) to remove 67.2 Mg of asbestos‑containing waste, improving local health safety. Gmina Żychlin obtained a 60 000 zł grant to build a modern eco‑lab in Primary School No 2, covering 95 % of the 63.4 k zł investment. Wołomin received 47 893 zł for a similar asbestos‑removal programme. Additionally, Kraków’s municipal green‑school initiative “Ogród z klasą” will support ten schools with gardening tools, training and certification, though no specific monetary figure was disclosed. These grants aim to enhance educational infrastructure, promote ecological learning and protect residents from hazardous materials.
