Yellowstone bison rams SUV, puncturing tire in viral wildlife encounter

A bull bison charged into a black Volkswagen SUV at Yellowstone National Park, bursting the vehicle's front tire. The incident was captured on a TikTok video posted by visitor Tonya Names on July 22, 2026. No injuries were reported and the SUV pulled over after the tire was damaged.

The encounter follows a recent bison attack earlier in July that left 65‑year‑old Carl McDaniel with multiple bone fractures after the animal struck him and his grandson at the Bridge Bay Campground. Park officials routinely advise visitors to keep at least 25 yards (23 metres) from bison, noting that the animals can run three times faster than humans and may become aggressive when they feel threatened.
