Yemen and Lebanon issue heat wave warnings with maritime alerts

Yemen's Center for Forecasts and Early Warning, operating under the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, issued extensive alerts for several governorates. The agency warned of a severe heat wave across coastal and desert areas, intermittent thunderstorms, and disturbed sea conditions. Temperatures are expected to reach extreme levels during the day, with high humidity and strong winds especially around the Socotra archipelago and the eastern coast. Residents in desert and coastal zones were urged to avoid direct sun exposure, stay hydrated, and drivers were advised to stay away from flood-prone valleys. Fishermen and ship crews received a heightened caution due to moderate to rough seas, with wave heights ranging from light to clearly disturbed in the Arabian Sea.

Lebanon's meteorological service forecast a summer heat wave with temperatures exceeding seasonal averages across the interior, coastal, and mountain regions. Expected daytime highs range from 31‑34 °C in the interior and coastal cities to 27 °C in the mountains, accompanied by rising humidity that will intensify the perceived heat. Fog is forecast on the mid‑elevation plateaus, and sea conditions are expected to be choppy with waves up to 1.5 m along the northern beaches. Authorities warned of the combined heat and humidity effects and advised the public to take protective measures.
