Yemen and Oman sign electrical interconnection agreement
Yemen and Oman have signed a joint cooperation agreement to implement an electrical interconnection project between the Dhofar Governorate in Oman and the Al Mahrah Governorate in Yemen. The agreement was signed in Salalah by the Governor of Al Mahrah, Mohammed Ali Yasser, and the Governor of Dhofar, Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said.
The project aims to supply electricity to several districts in Al Mahrah via the Dhofar public grid. The plan includes providing 50 megawatts to Al Ghaydah, with work expected to be completed within two to three years. Additionally, initial connections will supply 5 megawatts to Shahan and 3 megawatts to Hof, totaling 58 megawatts.
Officials stated that the interconnection will enhance energy stability, reduce power outages, and support developmental and commercial activities in the border regions. The project is viewed as a practical step in strengthening bilateral relations and improving essential services for citizens in the beneficiary areas.
