Yemen athletes compete in Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games

Yemeni athletes continue their participation in the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan across several disciplines.

In boxing, Hudhayfa Ashish advanced to the quarterfinals in the under 55 kg category after defeating Chinese Taipei's Ping Chia-Feng 4-1. Ashish is scheduled to face Japan's Rui Yamaguchi in the next round. Meanwhile, Mays Al-Reem Abu Khadija was eliminated in the round of 16 in the women's under 60 kg category.

In table tennis, the Yemeni national team saw mixed results. The doubles pair of Majd Al-Dhabhani and Ibrahim Jubran lost 3-0 to China. In individual competitions, Ibrahim Jubran was eliminated in the round of 32 by Kazakhstan's Alan Kurmangaliyeff, and Majd Al-Dhabhani lost to Hong Kong's Baldwin Chan.

In athletics, sprinter Abu Bakr Baghouth finished sixth in his 100m heat with a personal best time of 10.93 seconds, placing 35th overall. In swimming, Yusuf Marwan Fartout and Abdullah Barakat concluded their participation in the 50m butterfly, finishing 5th and 6th in their respective heats.
