Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games participation

Athletes from the United Arab Emirates and Yemen participated in various disciplines during the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan.

United Arab Emirates competitors saw success in athletics and equestrian sports. Mariam Karim qualified for the women’s 400m hurdles final, and Emmanuel Bamidile advanced in the men’s 400m sprint. In equestrianism, Bianca Schutz and Ali Khalfan Al Juhari became the first Emirati riders to qualify for individual dressage finals in a single edition of the games, placing 12th and 13th respectively. Other UAE performances were noted in weightlifting and shooting.

Yemeni athletes competed in boxing, table tennis, athletics, and swimming. In boxing, Hudhayfa Ashish reached the quarterfinals in the under 55 kg category. Table tennis results were mixed, with the doubles pair losing to China, while individual competitors were eliminated in the early rounds. In athletics, Abu Bakr Baghouth finished 35th overall in the 100m, and Yemeni swimmers concluded their participation in the 50m butterfly heats.
