Yemen casualties rise following Houthi rebel offensive

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that at least 838 people have died and 3,643 have been injured in Yemen since the start of the Houthi rebel offensive on August 6. The casualties are increasing at a rate of approximately 100 people per day.

Between September 19 and September 26, the WHO Health Emergencies Operation Centre recorded 809 new victims, consisting of 164 deaths and 645 injuries. The Lahj governorate in southwest Yemen has been identified as the most active front, particularly in the Al Madharibah wa Ras Al Arah district and along the coast of the Bab al Mandeb strait.

Displacement has also surged, with more than 180,513 people (27,413 families) across ten governorates reported displaced as of late September, a significant increase from mid-month figures.
