Yemen government forces launch Operation Dawn of Yemen offensive

Yemeni government forces have intensified military operations against Houthi militias under the campaign titled ‘Operation Dawn of Yemen’. According to military spokesperson Colonel Majed Al-Nuzaili, the armed forces conducted 1,276 targeting operations within a 24-hour period, hitting command centers, defensive positions, and supply lines across multiple fronts including Taiz, Marib, Al-Jawf, and Al-Bayda.

The offensive reportedly resulted in the neutralization of approximately 382 Houthi fighters and leaders, and the destruction or damage of 140 vehicles and pieces of heavy weaponry. In Taiz, government forces and popular resistance units seized control of the strategic Al-Maidan hill, which overlooks the western entrance to the city.

Amidst the military escalation, Houthi sniper and artillery attacks in rural Taiz districts, such as Sabir Al-Mawadim and Al-Masrakh, killed five civilians and injured six others. Meanwhile, Yemeni Foreign Minister Afrah al-Zouba stated that military operations will continue until the Houthis are disarmed, asserting that the group has used previous peace negotiations to expand its military capabilities.
