Yemen delegation reaches Tehran amid blockade, officials discuss ending siege

Abdulmajid al‑Houthi, a leader of Yemen’s Ansarallah movement, said a Yemeni delegation arrived in Tehran despite a blockade and military threats. He claimed Saudi and Israeli warplanes attempted to stop the Iranian‑registered aircraft from landing, but Yemeni air‑defence units fired surface‑to‑air missiles and forced the jets to withdraw, allowing the plane to land safely. Al‑Houthi added that Yemen will not surrender to the United States or Israel and framed martyrdom as a source of honor.

Yemen’s Deputy Foreign Minister Abdulwahid Abu Ras met Iran’s ambassador to Sanaa, Ali Mohammad Rezaei, to discuss cooperation and efforts to end the blockade on Sanaa International Airport. Abu Ras expressed condolences for Iran’s Supreme Leader, praised Iran’s role in breaking the siege, and reaffirmed support for the “Axis of Resistance.” The Iranian ambassador echoed Tehran’s backing for Yemeni initiatives to achieve peace, lift the blockade, and alleviate humanitarian suffering.
