Fighting between Yemeni government forces and Houthi rebels has intensified, leading to a significant humanitarian crisis. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reports that at least 76,000 people have been displaced in Yemen since July, with numbers rising sharply in recent days. Taiz province is the most heavily affected, with approximately 50,000 people displaced, followed by Lahj and Hodeidah.

On the military front, Houthi forces have seized control of several districts in Hodeidah and Taiz, including Mayun Island in the Red Sea. This expansion grants the group control over parts of the Bab al-Mandeb strait, a critical global shipping lane. In response, Yemeni government forces have launched air strikes targeting Houthi positions in Taiz, Al Bayda, and the coastal areas near Mocha.

Government forces also reported shooting down five Houthi drones in the Al-Wazi'iyah front west of Taiz. Meanwhile, Houthi representatives have accused Saudi Arabia of conducting 129 airstrikes across seven Yemeni governorates within a 48-hour period. The escalation has also caused regional movement, with approximately 1,400 people fleeing from Yemen to Djibouti in a single 24-hour period.
