Yemen endures extreme heat and scattered thunderstorms across highlands and coasts

The Yemen Meteorological and Early Warning Center has issued a forecast of sharply contrasting conditions. Coastal and desert areas are expected to experience very hot, humid weather with daytime highs of 38 °C to 43 °C, while inland highlands will see partly cloudy skies and intermittent thunderstorms accompanied by rain of varying intensity. The forecast covers the western highlands through Al‑Dhale, Al‑Bāḍāʾ, and Abyan, as well as the interior plateaus of Shabwah and Hadhramaut.

Strong winds will generate rough sea states, especially around the Arabian Sea, the Socotra archipelago and the Gulf of Aden, prompting warnings for fishermen and vessel operators. Authorities have urged drivers to avoid flood‑prone valleys and low‑visibility areas, and residents in hot zones to limit exposure to direct sunlight, stay hydrated, and protect against sunstroke.
