Yemen experiences extreme heat and scattered thunderstorms

The Yemen National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning issued a forecast for July 11‑12, 2026 indicating temperatures of 40‑45 °C across the country, with wind speeds ranging from 20 to 44 knots, especially around the Socotra archipelago and eastern Gulf of Aden. Thunderstorms are expected in several governorates, including Taiz, Ibb, Sana'a, and coastal areas, with a risk of flash floods in valleys and wadis.

Maritime authorities warned fishermen and vessel crews of rough seas and high waves near Socotra, the eastern Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea coast. The public was advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure between noon and 4 p.m., and steer clear of flood‑prone channels during rain events.
