Yemen faces security breaches in Sanaa and rising political divisions
The security situation in Yemen is facing significant internal and political shifts. In Sanaa, the Houthi leadership has reportedly detained and launched investigations into three high-ranking officials within the security, intelligence, and preventive security apparatuses. This move follows a series of intelligence and security breaches targeting sensitive Houthi sites, including a cyberattack on a command and control center at the Al-Nahdayn camp and operations targeting missile force personnel.
Parallel to these security crises, the political landscape remains deeply divided between the North and South. Observers note that the political reality of Yemen has shifted significantly since the 1990 unification. While Houthi forces maintain control over much of the North, Southern forces, supported by the Arab Coalition, have reclaimed much of the South. There are growing calls for the Southern political cause to be included in formal negotiations, arguing that if dialogue is the mechanism for addressing the Houthi-controlled North, it must also be applied to Southern demands for self-determination to ensure long-term stability.
