Yemen experiences extreme heat, scattered rain and rough seas

The Yemen Meteorological and Early Warning Center forecasted unusually high temperatures across the country on July 6‑7, 2026. Coastal and nearby areas were expected to see daytime highs of 38‑40 °C with night‑time lows around 30‑31 °C, while interior desert regions could reach up to 45 °C. Mountainous zones remained milder, with highs near 32‑34 °C.

Partial cloud cover and thunderstorms were predicted for the north‑western highlands from Saada through Lahj, bringing scattered rain and occasional hail. Authorities warned residents to avoid direct sun exposure, stay hydrated, and urged drivers to stay clear of flash‑flood prone wadis.

Sea conditions were expected to range from light to moderate waves along the western coast (including the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden) to moderate‑to‑rough seas off the eastern coast, the Arabian Sea and around Socotra. Fishermen and ship crews were cautioned about strong winds, high seas and possible disruptions.
