Yemen Foreign Minister discusses regional security and education in Doha

Yemeni Foreign Minister Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba has emphasized that a stable Yemen is essential for the security of the Gulf region, regional stability, and international trade. In an interview with Qatar’s Al-Sharq newspaper, Al-Zouba stated that Yemen serves as a geographic and economic extension of the Gulf, specifically noting its strategic importance via the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandab, and the Gulf of Aden.

The Minister highlighted that the weakening of Yemeni state institutions directly impacts the security of neighboring countries and maritime corridors. She criticized continued Iranian support for Houthi militias, asserting that weapons and smuggling networks increase threats to international navigation. Al-Zouba called for the restoration of state authority over all territories and waters to ensure sustainable maritime security and to prevent Yemen from being used as a platform for regional conflicts.

During her visit to Doha, Al-Zouba also met with leadership from the Education Above All Foundation to discuss expanding cooperation in education and economic empowerment. The discussions focused on creating new opportunities for Yemeni children and youth through training and entrepreneurship programs to support long-term recovery and human capital development.
