Yemen Foreign Minister rejects Iran's mediation offer
Yemeni Foreign Minister Afrah Al-Zouba has rejected Iran's proposal to mediate between Riyadh and Sanaa, stating that Tehran is a direct party to the conflict rather than a neutral mediator. Al-Zouba accused Iran of prolonging the war by providing the Houthi movement with weapons, including missiles and drones, as well as funding and training.
The Minister characterized the offer of mediation as a provocation to the Yemeni people and the families of those affected by attacks. She further alleged that Iran uses Yemen as a bargaining chip in its regional conflicts and attempts to frame the struggle as a conflict between Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Al-Zouba called on the international community to designate the Houthi group as a terrorist organization and to cut off its financial resources. She also urged for the enforcement of UN Security Council resolutions, specifically 2216 and 2624, to prevent the arming of the group and to support the government in restoring state institutions.
