Yemen Government Issues New Policies on Occupation, Mining and Officials' Travel

The Yemeni Cabinet, chaired by acting Prime Minister Mohamed Miftah, approved a government work plan that includes a national strategy for the mining sector and measures aimed at ending what it describes as the Saudi occupation and exploitation of Yemen’s resources. The cabinet also endorsed projects to strengthen the Yemeni Standards and Metrology Authority, and expressed solidarity with Iran’s victory over U.S. and Israeli aggression, as well as with Lebanon’s resistance.

In a separate directive, the internationally recognised Yemeni government announced that senior officials may not travel abroad without prior written permission from the Prime Minister. Immigration, border and passport authorities have been instructed to verify travel permits before allowing departures. The measure is presented as part of broader efforts to enforce official procedures, curb public‑sector waste and improve governance amid a severe economic crisis.
