Mid‑June 2026 the Yemeni cabinet in Aden approved a 20 % civil‑service salary rise, announced a Socotra agricultural research station and noted a US$150 million Saudi grant for oil‑derivative power generation. Two days later Saudi Arabia transferred 224 million riyals to fund state salaries, a move deemed vital for budget stability. On 20 June the cabinet, chaired by acting Prime Minister Mohamed Miftah, adopted a work plan introducing a national mining strategy, travel‑permission rules for senior officials and concerns over resource control.

Early July saw the southern political delegation in Riyadh operate without travel restrictions and senior southern figures meet Saudi officials to prepare a Southern Yemen dialogue focused on inclusive participation, oil‑export resumption and counter‑Houthi influence. Saudi Arabia merged its energy and industry ministries under Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, tightening control of strategic sectors. A Saudi‑backed “Special Committee” ordered the closure of Aden and Seiyun airports, diverting flights via Djibouti, and escorted several pro‑Saudi officials from Aden to Riyadh. A political seminar in Marib on 14 July reaffirmed the Yemen‑Saudi strategic partnership.

July 12‑14 Kak Bank held a consultative forum on banking digitisation, producing concrete action plans, while on 15 July community leaders in Zinjibar, Abyan demanded better utilities and supported Governor Dr Mukhtar Al‑Rabbash’s anti‑corruption reforms.

On 29 July President Rashad Al‑Alimi in Riyadh hailed the Yemen‑Saudi partnership as strategic, praising Saudi political, economic and humanitarian support, urging a security‑development framework, emphasizing Saada’s reconstruction, tribal involvement and the role of Yemeni expatriates, and calling for continued Saudi commitment within the Gulf cooperation framework.
