Yemen Health Minister emphasizes specialized training for risk response
Yemen’s Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Mohammed Buhaybeh, concluded the 2026 training programs organized by the National Institute of Public Health in Aden. During the closing ceremony, the Minister highlighted the necessity of specialized training to build a health system based on scientific evidence, epidemiological research, and data-driven policies to improve response efficiency to health risks.
Dr. Buhaybeh praised the National Institute of Public Health for its role in developing epidemiological knowledge and preparing qualified personnel. He also acknowledged the support provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region, and UNICEF in supporting the institute’s programs and national capacity building.
The Minister called for a transition from theoretical training to the practical application of the ‘One Health’ approach, which integrates human, animal, and environmental health efforts across different ministries. Dr. Abdullah bin Ghouth, Executive Director of the Institute, noted that the year's training programs were designed to meet field needs, allowing teams to collect and analyze epidemiological data to improve health planning.
