Yemen health officials coordinate with ICRC to boost medical aid
Dr. Salem Al-Shabahi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Public Health and Population, held discussions with Dr. Amira Kedir, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission, to enhance humanitarian and health interventions in Yemen. The talks focused on expanding cooperation to meet health needs across various governorates and establishing mechanisms to deliver medical supplies to conflict zones and besieged areas.
Dr. Al-Shabahi emphasized the necessity of coordinating efforts to ensure the continuity of care for patients and the wounded in difficult humanitarian conditions. He also expressed appreciation for the ICRC’s historical role in prisoner exchanges and its presence in contact zones.
In a separate effort to manage immediate health crises, Dr. Al-Shabahi visited hospitals in Aden to inspect the condition of those wounded in recent clashes in Maashiq Palace, Bab al-Mandab, and the Al-Sabiha front. During these visits, he inspected medical services at facilities such as Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital and reviewed the operations of the Ministry of Public Health’s emergency center. He called for increased readiness and improved rapid response mechanisms to handle mass casualties and emergency cases effectively.
