Yemen holds major Ashura processions demanding readiness against alleged aggression

On June 25, 2026, large processions were organized in Yemen to mark the anniversary of Imam Hussein’s martyrdom. In the Qabita district of Lahj province, officials including Ibrahim al‑Shahri, the southern governor’s mobilization officer, and provincial leaders led crowds chanting the slogan “Heihāt mina al‑dhala” (No humiliation for us). Participants pledged to maintain heightened readiness and to drive out “occupiers” from Yemeni territory.

A parallel demonstration took place in the capital, Sanaʿa, where thousands gathered under the same slogan. Speakers praised the legacy of Imam Hussein, expressed support for Houthi leader Abdul‑Malik al‑Houthi, and declared solidarity with the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples against what they described as an American‑Saudi‑Israeli coalition. The rallies emphasized national unity, readiness for confrontation, and the continuation of the “holy struggle” against perceived external aggression.
