Yemen human rights groups condemn Saudi airstrikes on Taiz civilians
Human rights organizations in Yemen have condemned a series of Saudi-led airstrikes targeting civilian areas, specifically in the Taiz governorate. Reports indicate that a strike on a residential home in the Al-Ma’afir district resulted in the deaths of three women and an elderly man, along with several injuries.
This incident follows a strike on a central market in Taiz just one day prior, which reportedly killed seven civilians and wounded between 40 and 43 others. Additionally, rights groups reported the targeting of a school in the Hayfan district and the destruction of telecommunications infrastructure in Hodeidah, including multiple networks in the Al-Luhayyah and Ad Durayhimi districts.
The National Human Rights Commission of Yemen and other organizations, including the Intisaf Organization and the Eye of Humanity Center, have characterized these actions as violations of international humanitarian law. They have called for an independent international investigation and urged the United Nations to condemn the escalation.
