Yemen human rights violations and investigations

The National Human Rights Commission of Yemen has raised alarms regarding ongoing violations of international humanitarian law. Initially, the Commission condemned Saudi-led airstrikes in the Taiz governorate, specifically in the Dhubab, Maqbanah, and Khadir districts. These strikes, which targeted residential areas, civilian gatherings, and a government complex, resulted in civilian deaths and injuries. The Commission labeled these actions “war crimes and crimes against humanity,” alleging a systematic policy of targeting state institutions and civilian infrastructure.

Following these reports, the National Commission of Inquiry into Allegations of Human Rights Violations met with 23 ambassadors and diplomatic representatives to present its fourteenth periodic report. During this briefing, officials detailed recent violations across several provinces, including Taiz, Al Hudaydah, Lahj, and Marib. These incidents involved missile attacks and armed assaults that caused civilian casualties, property damage, and significant displacement. The Commission emphasized the need for international cooperation to support national accountability mechanisms and justice for victims.
