Yemen Meteorological Authority Issues Thunderstorm and Flood Warning for Multiple Governorates

Yemen's National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning raised its alert level to "warning," forecasting thunderstorms of varying intensity across several governorates, including Taiz, Ibb, Dhale, Dhamar, Sana'a, Raymah, Al‑Mahwit, Hajjah, Amran and western Saada, as well as parts of the Tihama plain. Scattered rain is also expected in Al‑Bayiḍa, the highlands of Lahj, Abyan and Shabwa, along the eastern coast and the Socotra archipelago.

The center warned residents of flash‑flood risks in wadis and gullies, advised against crossing waterways during and after rain, and cautioned about strong winds (20–50 knots) that could generate dust, high waves and hazardous sea conditions near Socotra, the eastern Gulf of Aden and the eastern coastline. Additional hazards include rockfalls, mudslides, reduced visibility on mountain roads, and extreme heat in desert areas, prompting advisories to stay hydrated and avoid direct sun exposure during midday and afternoon periods.
