Yemen: Military forces regain control of Kahbub sites after Houthi attack

Military field sources have clarified reports regarding the strategic Kahbub area in Yemen. Following an intense attack by Houthi militias on Monday, which exploited a rotation of military units, several frontline positions in the western part of the region were briefly breached.

Defending forces, including the Southern Giants Forces and the Homeland Shield Forces, launched a counter-attack and successfully regained most of the lost positions. While Houthi militants reportedly remain stationed in one location west of the area, military preparations are underway to reclaim it.

Sources denied claims that military forces had withdrawn from Kahbub or that the Houthi group had seized full control, describing such reports as propaganda. The Kahbub region holds significant strategic value due to its mountainous terrain overlooking parts of the Dhubab district in Taiz and its proximity to the Bab al-Mandab strait, a vital maritime corridor for international trade.
