Yemen military fronts face Houthi advances and internal criticism

Military tensions and territorial shifts are escalating across Yemen. In Aden, southern air defenses intercepted Houthi drones, with eyewitnesses reporting anti-aircraft fire throughout the city.

In the Taiz region, significant controversy has emerged regarding military conduct. Local activists and journalists have accused military leaders, specifically Abu Bakr al-Jubuli, of abandoning positions in the southern Taiz countryside, which facilitated Houthi advances into the Al-Hujariyah and West Coast areas. Allegations include the unauthorized withdrawal of forces from strategic mountains and the kidnapping of civilians by local commanders.

Observers have also noted a stark disparity in combat intensity across different fronts. While active fighting and successes are reported on the West Coast and in Sabihah, other major fronts in Marib, Al-Jawf, Hajjah, and Saada remain in a state of relative stalemate. Critics argue that the lack of synchronized ground movements in these northern sectors fails to capitalize on recent air support and military operations, potentially leaving key strategic areas vulnerable to Houthi control.
