Yemen Minister calls for end to Taiz siege

Sheikh Turki al-Wadaei, the Yemeni Minister of Endowments and Guidance, has called for urgent international intervention to lift the siege on the city of Taiz. Speaking to the Saba News Agency, the minister stated that ending the blockade imposed by Houthi militias is a religious, national, and humanitarian duty.

Al-Wadaei emphasized that restricting movement and access to basic necessities contradicts Islamic principles and human rights. He warned that international silence regarding the suffering of Taiz residents risks normalizing the humanitarian tragedy and prolonging the crisis.

The minister urged the United Nations, humanitarian organizations, and human rights groups to pressure for the opening of roads and the guaranteed delivery of medical and food aid. He also called upon religious scholars to raise awareness about the humanitarian situation and the impact of the blockade on civilian populations.
