Yemen National Defense Council reaffirms military mission to restore state sovereignty
The Yemeni National Defense Council, chaired by President Rashad al-Alimi, met to reaffirm the military's commitment to protecting citizens, deterring threats, and restoring state institutions across the national territory. The Council praised the operational efficiency of the armed forces and popular resistance in recent coordinated operations against Houthi militia positions.
During the meeting, the Council urged citizens in Houthi-controlled areas to avoid military sites, including ammunition depots and missile launch platforms, to ensure civilian safety. They also called for cooperation with state security agencies to report suspicious movements.
Separately, Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and Security, Jalal al-Ruwaishan, stated that Yemen’s current military actions are a matter of self-defense and territorial liberation. He emphasized that Yemen seeks peace provided its sovereignty is respected, calling on Saudi Arabia to establish relations based on mutual interest and non-interference in internal affairs rather than continued blockade and intervention.
