Yemen officials decry Houthi airport interference as fishermen return from Eritrea

Energy Minister Adnan Al‑Kaf said the Houthi militia is solely responsible for the siege of Yemenis and the disruption of flights at Sana'a airport, accusing them of hijacking Yemenia aircraft and attempting to replace the national carrier with Iranian airlines. He called for an immediate halt to militia interference to ensure the safety of planes and passengers.

After three months of detention by Eritrean authorities, a boat carrying 15 fishermen from Al‑Hudaydah province arrived in the coastal town of Al‑Khawka. Their release highlights the ongoing hardships faced by Yemeni fishermen, who contend with maritime security risks, frequent arrests, and equipment seizures linked to the broader conflict.

Both incidents underscore the civilian toll of the Houthi‑led conflict on Yemen's transport infrastructure and livelihood sectors.
