Yemen PM warns of maritime threats in Bab al-Mandab

Yemeni Prime Minister Shayea Mohsen al-Zindani has characterized recent military developments in the West Coast and around the Bab al-Mandab strait as ‘extremely dangerous.’ He stated that these shifts cannot be viewed in isolation from systematic Iranian support for the Houthi militia, which has enabled the group to develop military capabilities that threaten Yemeni security, regional stability, and international maritime navigation.

Al-Zindani emphasized that the loss of strategic positions does not signify the end of the battle or a change in the government's objectives. He noted that the armed forces and national forces are currently reassessing field developments, reorganizing deployments, and increasing readiness to reclaim all lost territory. He described the situation as a national and international challenge affecting one of the world's most vital maritime corridors.

The Prime Minister also addressed the humanitarian crisis, noting the influx of displaced persons fleeing Houthi-controlled areas. He called on the international community and the UN Security Council to move beyond condemnation and take decisive action to cut off the Houthi militia's funding and military technology supplies. He praised the continued support of Saudi Arabia in maintaining Yemen's sovereignty and stability.
