Yemen marks 64th anniversary of September 26 Revolution

Yemenis are observing the 64th anniversary of the September 26 Revolution, marking the transition from the Imamate system to a republican government. In Marib, Presidential Leadership Council member Sultan al-Arada and Chief of Staff Saghir bin Aziz lit the revolution's flame, accompanied by ceremonial displays by scout groups and youth representing the revolution's six core goals.

Political leaders, including Ahmed bin Dagher of the National Coalition for Political Parties and Components, emphasized the need to unify efforts to restore state institutions and full control over Yemeni territory. Discussions highlighted the ongoing struggle to preserve the republican identity against attempts by Houthi militias to erase the revolution's history through curriculum changes and the suppression of national celebrations.

In addition to commemorative events, Marib authorities inaugurated nine educational and health projects valued at over 5 billion riyals. These development initiatives are framed as part of the broader effort to build state institutions and improve social welfare while defending the republic's principles.
