Yemen raises transport readiness following Houthi attacks

The Yemeni government has raised the readiness level of its transport sectors, including ports and airports, following Houthi attacks on critical infrastructure. A major assault involving missiles and drones targeted the port of Al Mukha, resulting in the deaths of four military personnel and three civilians, with 15 others injured.

In response to the escalation, the Yemeni Ministry of Transport, led by Minister Mohsen Haidara al-Amri, convened an emergency committee to establish contingency plans and ensure the continuity of transport services and humanitarian aid delivery. The ministry emphasized the need for technical and operational readiness to protect vital facilities.

Concurrently, reports of a recent attack on Seiyun International Airport in Hadramawt have been identified as misinformation. While social media videos claimed the airport was targeted by Houthi forces, investigations revealed the footage was from January 2026. The Director General of Seiyun International Airport, Ali Bakthir, confirmed that the airport remains safe and all flight operations are proceeding normally according to schedule.
