Yemen: Scholars warn of Houthi influence as security forces disrupt terror cells
Yemeni religious scholars and security officials have issued urgent warnings regarding the influence of Houthi ideology and recent security threats in liberated territories. During a meeting titled ‘Yemeni Scholars and the Duties of the Stage,’ religious leaders called for a unified national and religious discourse to protect the country’s identity and immunize younger generations against extremist ideologies.
Simultaneously, the Yemeni Ministry of Interior announced the disruption of several Houthi-linked cells in Aden, Lahj, and Abyan. Security forces reportedly intercepted plans intended to target military and security leaders, as well as vital infrastructure and supply lines, during September.
In Lahj, authorities dismantled a network of 18 individuals allegedly overseen by Houthi leadership. In Aden, security officials reported the arrest of a cell member in possession of explosive devices. These operations are part of the ‘Fajr Yemen’ initiative, which aims to secure the domestic front and restore state institutions.
