Yemen sees renewed fighting in Aden and Al‑Dhalea
Violent clashes erupted in Aden on Sunday after authorities appointed a new commander for the city’s “Coast Guard.” Pro‑Saudi forces attacked the building of the dissolved UAE‑backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), leading to heavy gunfire, armored vehicle deployments and the seizure of a military camp. No official casualty or damage figures have been released.
At the same time, Houthi fighters launched a large‑scale offensive in the Al‑Dhalea governorate, using a variety of weapons to try to breach defensive lines and overrun the province. The attack, described as a full‑fledged military campaign, coincided with a Houthi mobilisation and raised questions about its timing and possible regional acquiescence, while other fronts such as Marib and Taiz remained relatively calm.
