Yemen sees widespread tribal armed protests and heightened military mobilization amid risk of renewed conflict
Across multiple governorates, tribal groups in Yemen organized large armed demonstrations in response to a call from Houthi leader Abdul‑Malik al‑Houthi, pledging readiness to confront what they described as aggression by the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia. The gatherings, held in Sanaa, Dhamar, Saada, Al‑Baidha, Marib, Hajah, and other provinces, included armed displays, recruitment drives and vows of support for the Gaza cause and for Iranian assistance.
At the same time, the internationally recognised Yemeni government and the Saudi‑led coalition announced a rapid buildup of military forces, raising combat readiness levels on the western coast and in southern Hodeidah. Recent clashes on the Jabal Dabas front resulted in dozens of casualties on both sides, prompting officials to warn of a possible return to full‑scale war despite the fragile 2022 UN‑brokered ceasefire.
