Aden aviation projects: Foundation stones laid for GACA building and training institute

The Yemeni Ministry of Transport has laid the foundation stones for two major projects at Aden International Airport: a new headquarters for the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology (GACA) and a specialized civil aviation institute. These projects are being self-funded by the Authority.

The GACA building project covers a total area of approximately 20,636 square meters, including a main building of 6,143 square meters and 14,492 square meters for parking and supporting facilities. The civil aviation institute will span 10,000 square meters and will feature 19 administrative offices, seven classrooms, and seven training laboratories.

Minister of Transport Mohsen Al-Omari stated that these developments are essential for modernizing the aviation sector's infrastructure and training national personnel. The institute aims to provide training in accordance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards to qualify Yemeni staff in various aviation specialties.

Additionally, the Ministry of Transport met with the General Secretariat of the Cabinet to review the implementation of ministry plans and projects for 2025 and 2026, focusing on addressing stalled projects and enhancing coordination to improve transportation services across maritime, air, and land sectors.
