Yemen warned of extreme heat, thunderstorms and hazardous seas

Yemen's Centre for Weather Forecasts and Early Warning issued a bulletin predicting very high temperatures across coastal, desert and highland areas on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to reach up to 43 °C in inland deserts such as Saïon and 41 °C in al‑Lahj, while coastal cities like Aden and Zinjibar will see highs of 39 °C.

Scattered thunderstorms with occasional hail are forecast for western highlands, affecting governorates including Dhale, Al Bayda, Abyan, Shabwah and Hadhramaut. Residents and drivers are urged to avoid flash‑flood channels and valleys during rain showers.

Sea conditions will be rough to very rough around the Socotra archipelago and the Arabian Sea, moderate to rough along the coasts of Hadhramaut, Shabwah, Abyan and Aden, and light to moderate elsewhere. Fishermen and vessel crews are warned of higher waves and strong winds, especially near Socotra and the eastern and southern coasts.

Authorities advise the public to stay hydrated, limit direct sun exposure during peak hours and follow safety instructions.
