Yemeni Armed Forces report major gains in Fajr al-Yaman operation

The Yemeni Armed Forces have reported significant developments in the ‘Fajr al-Yaman’ (Dawn of Yemen) operation, which launched on October 4. Military officials claim the offensive has conducted 2,309 targeted strikes, resulting in the neutralization of approximately 1,250 Houthi fighters and the destruction of over 460 military vehicles and pieces of equipment.

While the operation saw initial momentum, particularly with government forces regaining control in parts of Bab al-Mandab and Dhubab, recent reports indicate a slowdown in progress. Challenges such as extensive landmines and fierce Houthi resistance have hindered advancement. Additionally, Houthi forces have made gains in the rural areas of Taiz, creating a parallel front to the coastal operations.

Presidential Leadership Council head Rashad al-Alimi has affirmed that the operation will continue until Houthi threats are neutralized and state institutions are restored. Meanwhile, the Yemeni military has called on civilians in Houthi-controlled areas to avoid military sites and has reiterated that an amnesty remains open for those who lay down their arms.
