Yemeni forces launch maritime blockade and strikes against Saudi Arabia
The Yemeni Armed Forces have announced a series of strategic measures against Saudi Arabia, including a maritime blockade and targeted strikes on Saudi troop concentrations. Yemeni officials stated they have successfully intercepted 48 Saudi oil tankers, forcing them to divert, and reported that eight tankers have been attacked since July 20 in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and Arabian Sea.
In response to strikes on Sanaa airport and Hudaida port, Yemeni forces conducted nine military operations in various Saudi provinces and 14 operations against troop concentrations and transport vessels. These actions reportedly resulted in casualties among Saudi-backed fighters and officials.
These escalations occur shortly after Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan formalized a trilateral mutual defense pact in Mecca. Under the agreement, an armed attack on one member is considered an attack on all three. However, the effectiveness of this alliance is being questioned following retaliatory strikes, including a second fire at the Aramco Jazan refinery within two weeks.
