Yemeni forces repel major Houthi attacks in Marib and Taiz
Yemeni government forces have repelled significant Houthi military escalations across multiple fronts, including land and sea operations. In Marib province, the military thwarted two large-scale simultaneous attacks in the southern and western sectors, specifically targeting the Al-Mushajih, Al-Zour, and Al-Layrif fronts. Military sources report that the Houthi forces suffered heavy casualties, with approximately 80% of the attacking force neutralized.
In the maritime domain, Yemeni naval forces intercepted Houthi boats attempting to infiltrate vital islands near international shipping lanes in the Red Sea. This marks the third failed maritime attempt by the militia in less than a month.
Simultaneously, intense fighting has broken out in Taiz and Al Jawf. In Taiz, clashes have intensified in the western coastal areas and near the Bab al-Mandab strait, resulting in the death or capture of several high-ranking Houthi leaders. In Al Jawf, government forces have made strategic advances toward eastern Hazm al-Jawf, seizing control of significant territory and cutting Houthi supply lines. These developments represent a major escalation that threatens the fragile UN-brokered truce established in 2022.
