Yemeni Armed Forces deploy new drone brigade against Houthi militia

The Yemeni Armed Forces have announced the deployment and active combat use of the Sixth Drone Brigade to target Houthi militia positions. In its initial operations, the brigade conducted precision strikes against a command and control center in the Al-Kasara area, located northwest of the Marib governorate.

These drone operations are part of a broader strategic effort to expand aerial reconnaissance and strike capabilities across multiple fronts, including Hajjah, Saada, Al-Jawf, Marib, Shabwah, Ad Dali, Lahj, Taiz, and Al Hudaydah. The military aims to use these unmanned aerial vehicles to target Houthi fortifications, personnel, vehicles, and supply lines to weaken the militia's ability to coordinate field movements.

Assistant Defense Minister Samir al-Sabri stated that the military has integrated two drone brigades into active service, enhancing training and armament capabilities to address previous tactical gaps. This development follows an initial announcement of drone systems in July, signaling a shift toward increased reliance on unmanned technology to support ground forces and artillery in ongoing combat zones.
