Yemeni ministries advance agricultural and water resource partnerships

In Aden, Yemeni government officials are advancing partnerships to bolster food security, water management, and environmental protection.

The Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Salem Al-Saqatri, signed a memorandum of understanding with the President of the University of Aden, Dr. Al-Khader Lasour. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in agriculture, fisheries, marine biology, animal production, water resources, and plant protection. Key objectives include conducting joint applied research, developing professional training programs, and implementing projects to support rural development and national food security.

Separately, the Minister of Water and Environment, Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, met with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) resident representative in Yemen, Dr. Adam Yao. Their discussions focused on water and environmental projects, including the management of the Hawf Protectorate in Al-Mahrah province. The meeting addressed institutional support for the Ministry, capacity building for the General Authority for Water Resources, and the acceleration of ongoing and future environmental projects.
