Yemeni Ministry of Defense launches general mobilization
The Yemeni Ministry of Defense and the General Staff have launched procedures for general mobilization and national call-to-arms. This decision follows directives from Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi and comes amid escalating confrontations with Houthi forces, particularly in the Taiz governorate.
During a meeting in Aden led by Defense Minister Taher al-Aqili and Chief of Staff Sagheer bin Aziz, military leaders announced the activation of human mobilization and reserve pathways, the organization of reception centers, and the assignment of specific tasks to various military entities. The mobilization aims to increase military efficiency, unify resources, and enhance readiness to defend national sovereignty and reclaim state institutions.
Chief of Staff bin Aziz noted that the process includes assessing necessary forces and equipment, organizing legal recruitment and reinforcement operations, and maintaining a clear chain of command. Military leadership also emphasized the importance of training, qualification, and securing basic needs for troops while monitoring ongoing military operations in Taiz.
