Yemen negotiator Mohammed Abdulsalam addresses stalled Saudi talks
Mohammed Abdulsalam, the head of the Sana’a negotiating delegation, has addressed claims regarding the status of political talks with Saudi Arabia. He stated that Sana’a engaged in both direct and indirect communications with Riyadh both before and after recent escalations, seeking to implement the previously agreed-upon roadmap to end the blockade and address humanitarian needs.
Abdulsalam reported that following mediation efforts by Oman, Sana’a agreed to a proposal for a five-day truce to allow for calm negotiations. He noted that Sana’a provided its response within three days, contingent upon Saudi Arabia meeting specific humanitarian demands. However, he alleged that Saudi Arabia delayed its response for approximately 21 days, a period during which military activity intensified on the western coast of Yemen.
