Yemeni officials debate Houthi military escalations in Taiz
During a televised debate on Al-Araby TV, Faisal al-Majidi, Undersecretary of the Yemeni Ministry of Justice, and Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a Houthi leader, engaged in a heated political exchange regarding military developments in Yemen.
Al-Majidi addressed recent military escalations in the Taiz governorate and the West Coast, specifically mentioning areas such as Al-Kadha and Maqbanah. He argued that Houthi attacks on the coastal road connecting Mocha and Taiz are strategic attempts to reach the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Al-Majidi claimed these movements aim to link Bab al-Mandab with the Strait of Hormuz to serve Iranian strategic interests in the region.
The debate also focused on the relationship between the Houthi movement and Iran. Al-Majidi characterized the group as a tool for Tehran and followers of Mojtaba Khamenei. Following the broadcast, al-Majidi stated on social media that al-Bukhaiti appeared “confused and agitated” during the discussion.
