Yemen's Abdulrahman Al‑Muharami meets Defense Minister Taher al‑Aqali to boost combat readiness amid Houthi escalation

Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council member Abdulrahman Al‑Muharami received Defense Minister Lieutenant General Taher al‑Aqali for a high‑level briefing on the country's military situation. The officials reviewed the ongoing escalation by the Iran‑backed Houthi militia, which continues to threaten national security, target commercial vessels and jeopardise Red Sea shipping lanes.

Both leaders stressed the need to raise the armed forces' combat readiness, improve operational coordination and accelerate training and equipment programs. They affirmed that the Yemeni military must remain vigilant and prepared to respond to any emergency or directive to protect the nation and regional stability.
