Yemen's Deputy Chairman Mahmoud Al Sabihi pushes faster water and sanitation projects in Aden
Deputy Chairman of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, Major General Mahmoud Al Sabihi, met with Water and Environment Minister Tawfiq Al‑Sharjabi in the temporary capital Aden. He called for accelerated implementation of water and sewage infrastructure projects and tighter coordination with international donors.
Al Sabihi stressed the importance of routine maintenance of sewage networks and pumping stations, repairing leaks and stopping illegal wells that drain groundwater. He noted the current water supply of about 120,000 m³ per day falls far short of the estimated need of 200,000 m³, and urged technical and administrative plans to protect aquifers, expand distribution networks and reuse treated water for agriculture and environmental purposes.
