Yemen's Health Sector hit by over 6,200 Houthi violations, report says

A recent rights report documents more than 6,200 violations by Houthi militia against Yemen's health sector between January 2020 and July 2026. The abuses include 62 killings, 87 injuries, 167 forced detentions, 19 forced disappearances, and numerous attacks on hospitals, clinics and pharmacies – 1,240 incidents of closure, raid, bombing or destruction. The militia also looted 689 ambulances for military use, seized 18 drug stores and shuttered 1,107 pharmacies, and forced the dismissal of 569 medical staff while depriving over 48,000 health workers of salaries. Private hospitals and pharmaceutical firms faced extortion and imposed guard fees. The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms urges the international community and the UN to condemn the violations, ensure the release of detained staff, and guarantee unhindered delivery of medical aid.
